Dear Fort Fam,
This Sunday, we gather at the start of a new year as a brand-new church. One that you are actively helping to shape.
We’ll be celebrating the Epiphany of Our Lord, the day we remember that Christ’s light is meant for the whole world. Not hidden away. Not saved for a few. But freely and openly shared with all.
As a new church, this moment matters. We are still becoming who we are. From the beginning, we’re choosing to be a church rooted in community, shaped by care for one another, and committed to justice that shows up in real ways. We share our light when we visit our neighbors at Isabella Nursing Home, offering presence, conversation, and care. We share it when we stock the Fort Fridge making sure food is available for anyone who needs it. We share it every time we choose connection over isolation, generosity over scarcity, and justice over indifference.
The Epiphany invites us to ask a simple but powerful question as the year begins: What will we do with the light we’ve been given? Our church’s answer is to share it.
So come as you are and bring your light. You are welcome at Fort Washington Community Church. Help shape this church into one that believes love is stronger when it’s shared.
We’ll see you on Sunday. ♥️
In solidarity,
Melissa Thomas-Baum
