Dear Fort Fam,
How are you doing this week?
Spring has finally arrived after a brutal winter and we are again reminded of how faithful and reliable God’s creation is. No matter how harsh the season, the earth still turns, the light returns, and new life begins to emerge. There is something deeply reassuring in that rhythm.
As we prepare for worship this Sunday, let us recall the story from Luke 24, where the risen Christ walks alongside the disciples on the road to Emmaus. They did not recognize Him at first. In their grief, confusion, and loss, Jesus drew near, opened the scriptures to them, and ultimately made himself known in the breaking of the bread. It is comforting to know that even when we cannot see Him clearly, Christ is walking with us.
Please stay after service and, if you can, bring a snack to share as we spend time together.
As we continue gathering for worship at Cabrini Shrine, we are in need of volunteers to help set up our space before service. If you are able to help, please consider signing up at the link below.

We also ask that you join us in prayer for several members of our church family.
Please keep Loretta Acquaah and her family in your prayers during this difficult time. There will be a viewing today and the funeral will take place tomorrow. In moments of grief, like the disciples on the road, we trust that Christ walks closely beside those who mourn, bringing comfort and hope even through tears.
Please also pray for Jay and his family as they grieve the loss of his mother. May they experience God’s peace and the quiet assurance that they are not alone on this journey.
We lift up Sharon and Kathy as well, who will both be undergoing surgery. As Christ brought healing and restoration, we pray for skilled hands to guide their care, and for complete and swift recovery.
Thank you for being a church of compassion, faithful prayer, and miraculous expectation.
In Solidarity,
Melissa Thomas-Baum
